Helping people is something that has been my passion for a long time. I was raised to love everyone equally and to think of others first. When I left high school, I thought my journey would lead me back to coach football and teach secondary education. As usual, God had a different plan for my life. I grew up overweight and struggled with dependence on food through my late teens. It wasn’t until I started college that I truly started to understand health and nutrition. Through reading and learning, I was able to start understanding what steps I was taking that lead me to live my entire life overweight and what steps I was taking that made me depend on food for comfort. I understood the emotional connection I had with eating that was doing nothing but hurting me. I started alife changing journey that lead me to lose 115 pounds. I was down to 200 pounds, but still struggled. I would gain 30 and lose 20, lose 10 but gain 15 back.

I couldn’t find a support system, or workout regimen that kept my interest for longer than 6 months. Until my fiancé (now my wife of 5 years) told me that she was going to start CrossFit. I had no objections and was excited for her to try something new but thought I would be unable to join because of some injuries that I had developed over the years. Still, she convinced me to go and I will forever thank her for pushing me. I fell in love with CrossFit about three reps into my first WOD. I loved the work, I loved the challenge, I loved the group atmosphere, and I loved the support. No matter how long I did CrossFit there was always something new I could learn, something more complex I could challenge my body to achieve.

It wasn’t long before I had maintained my weight and emotional health for over a year and I knew I wanted to help people find what I had found. I became a student of movement, nutrition, self-improvement, and teaching and began doing what I could to help others. As soon as I got my level 1 certification, I knew one day I would be a part of community that helped people. I wanted to give people what I had received through CrossFit and help them live their fullest life. Two years later, CrossFit Activate was born. My dream of a place that is full of love and acceptance, hopes and goals, progress was here. My beautiful wife Alexis, and our wonderful partners Mark and Moe have those same aspirations. We love coaching, we love improving, and we would love for you to be a part of our family.
